Third-ranked Middlebury scored four goals in a 4:01 span in the second period on its way to a 6-0 shutout over Southern Maine.
After 34:20 of scoreless hockey, Middlebury got on the board as Kevin Cooper circled the net before scoring from the left faceoff circle for a power-play goal. Just 1:17 later, Cooper struck again as he scored on a rebound from just outside the crease.
The Panthers added a third goal 1:13 later as Adam Foote scored on a rebound from the slot, and a fourth as Foote scored on another rebound from just outside the slot.
Milan Sloboda netted his first goal of the season, while Scott Goldman added his 11th in the third period.
Marc Scheuer made 11 saves in goal for his fourth shutout of the season in his sixth start. Jason Tuck made 32 saves in goal for Southern Maine.
