Canisius scored three unanswered goals in the third period to come from behind and defeat Quinnipiac, 4-2, in a MAAC game at the Buffalo State Sports Arena on Tuesday.
Quinnipiac took a 2-1 lead after a Shawn Mansoff shorthanded goal 4:33 into the third period. However, the Griffs tied the score with a tally at 12:17 before Todd Houston notched the game winner at 17:51. Canisius added an empty-net goal at 19:29 to seal the win, its first over Quinnipiac in four tries.
Jed Holtzman led Quinnipiac (11-6-4), which has now lost two straight MAAC Hockey League games for the first time ever, with one goal and one assist. The Braves continued their struggle on the power-play, going 0-for-7 in the contest.
