Canisius’ Todd Bisson scored twice in the first seven plus minutes of the game and the Ice Griffs went on to hand Mercyhurst its first loss in MAAC play with a 3-1 victory.
Bisson’s first goal came on a delayed penalty call against the Lakers. His 75 shot eluded Peter Aubry and just 45 seconds into the game, the Ice Griffs led, 1-0. Bisson’s second goal came at 7:18.
The Ice Griffs made it 3-0 at 16:51 of the second period when David Deeves scored and that goal was matched by a Eric Ellis breakaway goal in the third period to give the final score of 3-1.
Canisius moves to 6-7-2 and 4-5-2 in MAAC play while Mercyhurst (8-6-2, 8-1-1 MAAC) had its 11-game MAAC unbeaten streak dating back to last season snapped.
