Connecticut defeated American International, 4-1, on Friday.
With the win, the Huskies’ record improves to 5-5-2 overall (5-2-1 MAAC), while AIC drops to 4-8-1 (4-5-1 MAAC).
AIC took control of the game midway through the first period on a power play goal by Guillaume Caron to give the Yellow Jackets their only lead of the game.
Connecticut then went on to score two goals in each of the remaining periods for the win. Matt Herhal tallied the Huskies game-tying goal 15 seconds into the second period.
Just over three minutes later, Mike Boylan gave UConn the game-winning goal.
The teams played scoreless through much of the third period. At the 16:24 mark Eric Goclowski netted a goal. Eric Nelson scored UConn’s last tally with 1:26 remaining in the game.
UConn’s Jason Carey stopped 25 shots on net improving his season’s record to 2-0. Chance Thede made 35 saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets.
