Five different players scored goals as Wisconsin-River Falls remained undefeated, improving to 7-0-1 with a 5-2 victory over St. Mary’s at Hunt Arena Friday night.
St. Mary’s jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the game when Matt Hangge scored on a power-play goal.
However, the Falcons scored three times in the first period. Jared Anderson’s breakaway goal, his fourth of the season, tied the game at 1-1 at the 10:16 mark. Evan Stensrud and Jeff Bernard also scored in the period for a two-goal advantage.
St. Mary’s cut the lead to 3-2 with a power-play goal at the 4:20 mark of the second period, but Jess Johnson’s redirection of Evan Stensrud’s shot put the Falcons up 4-2. Carl Boben added the final goal in the third period.
Jacque Vezina stopped 21 shots for the win. Eric Richardson made 26 saves in a losing effort.
