Air Force Academy junior Brian Gornick’s second career hat trick led the Falcons to a 3-1 win over the Findlay Oilers in a CHA game on Saturday. The win gave the Falcons a split of the weekend with Findlay.
Gornick put the Falcons on the board four minutes into the contest as he scored a power play goal from Scott Bradley and Scott Zwiers. Fornick cleaned up a flurry in front of the net and punched in the goal past Oiler goaltender Jamie Van de Spyker.
At 13:04 of the first period Gornick scored the second of the game on a four-on-four situation. Gornick took a pass from Shane Saum and skated in uncontested.
Oiler Aaron Weegar sent a pass through the crease that deflected off a Falcon and into the net past Mark Kielkucki to cut the deficit to 2-1 for the Oilers.
Gornick completed the hat trick in the second period as he punched another goal in from a flurry out front on the power play.
Air Force (4-3-1, 1-2-1 CHA) will host Division III Augsburg in a pair next weekend while Findlay, 2-1-0, 1-1-0 CHA, will travel to Wayne State on Friday and then host Wayne State on Saturday.
