The Mercyhurst Lakes scored five times in the first and second periods and handed the Bentley Falcons a 12-0 shellacking. The 12 goals scored set a new one-game record in the MAAC, breaking the prior record of eleven held by Quinnipiac (1999) and Iona (1998).
Fourteen different Lakers registered at least one point, led by senior left wing Eric Ellis. Ellis had a goal and four assists. Junior center Louis Goulet registered a hat trick, scoring at even strength, on the power play and shorthanded. Jeff Gould and Brad Olsen each scored two goals.
Mercyhurst outshot Bentley, 53-12, and both teams used three goaltenders.
The Lakers have beaten the Falcons by a combined score of 25-0 over the last three meetings.
Mercyhurst (2-1-0, 2-0-0 MAAC) will host AIC next Friday and Saturday while Bentley (0-3-1, -1-1 MAAC) will host Connecticut and Holy Cross next weekend.
