In their first home game, the Wisconsin-River Falls freshmen looked liked veterans, scoring five goals in a 10-1 victory over Minnesota-Crookston Friday night at Hunt Arena.
River Falls dominated, firing 57 shots at Crookston goaltenders Michael Dickson and Jeff Horner. The Golden Eagles only managed 18 shots in the contest.
Shane Fukushima put the Falcons up early when the junior scored on the second shift of the game, then added a second goal in the second period.
But the real story was the freshmen: Jamie Steinert added his second goal of the season at the 10:37 mark of the first period to make the score 2-0, while Rob Novak scored twice, and Matt Elsen and Evan Stensrud each added his first collegiate goal.
