Six different players scored goals as St. Norbert beat UW-Eau Claire 6-1 in both teams’ season opener.
After Ian Sgambelluri put Eau Claire on the board with a power-play goal at the 5:05 mark of the first period, St. Norbert used the power play to its advantage, scoring on three of nine man-advantages and once more just after the expiration of a Blugold penalty.
Eau Claire was whistled for 11 minor penalties while St. Norbert took just six, helping lead to St. Norbert’s decisive 33-14 advantage in shots on goal.
