Minnesota D-I men’s teams to play for North Star College Cup

The official title to Minnesota’s inaugural Division I men’s tournament that will be staged in January 2014 is the North Star College Cup. The event runs January 24-25, 2014, in St. Paul, Minn., with Minnesota, Minnesota State, Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State all taking part. Bemidji State will not participate in the 2014 event.

Gordic, Brown not returning to Michigan Tech

According to Mix 93 in Houghton, Mich., Michigan Tech forward Milos Gordic and defenseman Tommy Brown will not be back with the Huskies for their senior seasons in 2013-14. It’s unknown where the pair will play next season.

Bowling Green names Kingston new AD

Dill named new Bemidji State athletics director

Bemidji State announced Thursday that Tracy Dill as the university’s next director of intercollegiate athletics. Dill comes to BSU after 27 years at St. Cloud State, where he has served as associate athletic director since 1999. He will replace Rick Goeb.

Fundraiser for Nazareth coach Roll’s family to be held April 20

Ex-Northern Michigan AD Godfrey passes away

Ken Godfrey, Northern Michigan’s athletic director from 2003-11, passed away April 17 at the age of 64 following a long battle with cancer and suffering from a graft-versus-hosts disease from his bone marrow transplant. Godfrey was a former chair of the CCHA Executive Committee and also hired current NMU head coach Walt Kyle.
