The Chargers have their third coach in as many seasons in former Air Force assistant Mike Corbett.
Former Michigan Tech video coordinator Nick Laurila has joined Alabama-Huntsville’s staff as director of hockey operations. Laurila, a Carol Stream, Ill., native, is a 2010 graduate of Michigan Tech and spent four seasons in the video role there.
Alabama-Huntsville has announced the hiring of Matty Thomas as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season, the Chargers’ first in the WCHA. Alabama-Huntsville announced on Monday the hiring of Mike Corbett as the Chargers’ new head coach. Corbett replaces Kurt Kleinendorst, who stepped down earlier this offseason after one season at UAH. According to WHNT in Alabama, ousted Denver coach George Gwozdecky is a candidate for the vacant Alabama-Huntsville head coaching position and spent Wednesday afternoon on campus. Alabama-Huntsville sophomore forward Kyle Lysaght is in critical condition following a car accident Friday in his hometown of Marietta, Ga.
