American International scored three third period goals to break a 2-2 tie and defeat Canisius 5-2 to win its second consecutive Atlantic Hockey championship.
There was plenty of excitement in the three Atlantic Hockey quarterfinal series that went ahead, with Army West Point, Canisius and Niagara advancing to Springfield over Sacred Heart, RIT and Robert Morris, respectively.
Nine conference quarterfinal games were played Sunday, with some teams eliminated from the 2020-21 season and some advancing to play another day.
