The Mavericks have won 18 in a row heading into Saturday’s game against Denver.
He broke the single-season record for wins by a goalie this year, shattering the previous record set by Michigan’s Marty Turco and Minnesota’s Robb Stauber.
“You never know what impact you’ll have on somebody else’s life by a small gesture,” said Kosack, who received the award recognizing college hockey’s finest citizen.
The sophomore led the nation in save percentage (.952), recording 10 shutouts and posting a goals-against average of 1.54.
Denver and Minnesota State skated briefly at TD Garden on Friday before awards ceremonies took place.

Goaltender Dryden McKay (16 saves) earned his 38th win of the season for the Mavericks, who are in their first Division I title game.
“We play from our end out,” Mavericks captain Wyatt Aamodt said. “That’s always been our identity and made us successful and I think everyone bought in tonight.”
Ten of the Gophers’ 17 shots came from defensemen, and six came more specifically from the top pairing of Ryan Johnson and Brock Faber.
Minnesota State earned a spot in its first Division I NCAA championship game with a 5-1 victory against Minnesota on Thursday at TD Garden.
The Mavericks had an 11-4 lead in shots on goal but the Gophers took the lead.
“[We’ve] got a chance to win a championship so there’s no better feeling than that,” Carter Savoie said after scoring to push the Pioneers past the Wolverines.
The Pioneers forward was speechless after sending his team to the national championship game.
Jimmy Lambert, Nolan Moyle and Garrett Van Wyhe “played their best hockey when they needed to,” Wolverines coach Mel Pearson said.
