The Colorado Avalanche has signed Boston University sophomore forward Shane Bowers to a three-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2019-20 season.
Bowers will report to the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, on an amateur tryout contract.
Acquired by the Avalanche in the Matt Duchene trade on Nov. 5, 2017, Bowers was originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round (28th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
This past season, the Halifax, N.S., native finished fourth on the Terriers with 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 37 games and ranked third in goals. He finishes his college career with 53 points (28 goals, 25 assists) in 77 games.
