“We were fortunate to get the win,” said Team USA coach Bob Motzko (St. Cloud State) in a statement. “A tremendous credit to Switzerland for the heart and courage they showed here tonight. We weren’t our best, we know that, but we found a way to make it through and we’ll look to get back to our style of hockey here on Wednesday.”
United States captain Luke Kunin (Wisconsin) also scored in the win, while Tyler Parsons (OHL’s London Knights) finished with 19 saves for the win in goal.
Team USA (5-0-0-0) advances to the semifinals on Wednesday against Russia at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The game will be televised live on the NHL Network and the official start time will be announced later Monday night.
