A weekend sweep of Denver firmed up Minnesota’s hold on the top spot in Monday’s USCHO.com/CSTV Networks Division I men’s poll.
The Gophers earned 37 of 40 first-place votes to stay at No. 1 for the third straight week. Minnesota was followed by Wisconsin, which took three of four points from Michigan Tech to move up to No. 2.
Miami, which lost a pair of road games to Michigan State, dropped a notch to third, followed by Boston University, which split last weekend with New Hampshire.
The Spartans, meanwhile, rocketed up to fifth, a five-place improvement over last week.
Colorado College climbed three spots to No. 6 after sweeping Alaska-Anchorage. The Tigers were trailed by Cornell, which beat Dartmouth before losing to Harvard, and then No. 8 Maine, which rose three places after sweeping Boston College Friday and Saturday.
The Black Bears leapfrogged the Eagles in the wake of those results, as BC fell five spots to ninth.
Rounding out the top 10 was Nebraska-Omaha, which took three points in its series with now-No. 11 Michigan. The Wolverines dropped three places since last week’s poll.
Denver fell five positions to No. 12, followed by North Dakota, New Hampshire and then No. 15 Harvard.
Vermont was ranked No. 16 this week, with Providence at No. 17 and poll returnee St. Lawrence at No. 18. Finishing out the top 20 were St. Cloud State, which dropped five spots after losing a pair of overtime decisions to Minnesota State, and then No. 20 Colgate.
Dropping out since last Monday was Lake Superior in the wake of a home-and-home sweep by Northern Michigan.
