The NCHA announced Thursday that St. Norbert senior forward Johan Ryd has been voted player of the year by the coaches of the men’s conference and Mark Wick of St. Scholastica was named coach of the year.
Ryd ranked first in the NCHA in overall (33 points) and conference scoring (25 points) while leading the Green Knights to their third consecutive regular season championship and a first-round bye in the playoffs.
“Johan is the physical and emotional leader of our team,” said St. Norbert head coach Tim Coghlin in a news release. “He is our captain, leading scorer, top defensive player, leading shot blocker and hardest worker on the ice and in the classroom.”
Wick also won top coaching honors in 2009 and this year, guided the Saints to a 14-7-4 regular-season record and a second-place finish in the NCHA.
The league also named its All-NCHA Team, All-NCHA Honorable Mentions and All-Rookie Team.
