Ohio State assistant Brent resigns for job outside hockey

Ohio State assistant coach Steve Brent has decided to resign his position and take a job outside of hockey, the school announced Thursday.

Brent played for the Buckeyes and has been on the coaching staff 13 of the last 14 seasons.

“We wish Steve and his family all the best as he enters the next phase of his life,” Ohio State head coach Mark Osiecki said in a statement. “He truly exemplifies what it means to be a Buckeye. His passion for Ohio State is evident in the way he gave his all each day to help the program. He will truly be missed.”

Brent began his coaching career as the team’s volunteer coach in 1997-98. After a year away from the bench, he rejoined the program as the volunteer coach in 2007-08 and returned to a full-time role in August 2008.
