The Eagles will once again have the chance to even the game with the man advantage as BU’s Tom Morrow was whistled for holding with 3:26 remaining in the second and BU holding a slim, 1-0 lead.
BU has killed BC’s second power play of the night, allowing just one weak deflection from Brian Boyle on net. Combined, the two clubs are 0-for-5 with the man advantage as 4:20 remains in the second.
After being the recipient of three penalties, Gerbe drew a penalty against BU’s John McCarthy at 12:46 for obstruction interference. BC is on the power play for the second time in the game, still trailing, 1-0.
BC again killed of the BU power play without allowing a shot on goal. BU’s best shot was a blast from the point that deflected in front and never reached Schneider. BU has had six minutes of power play in the game without a shot on goal.

Kenny Roche made a perfect pass that sent Jason Lawrence in alone for BU. Unfortunately for the Terriers, the puck bounced off Lawrence’s stick and Boomer Ewing’s follow-up shot went wide. BU hasn’t mustered much with the man advantage as BC’s aggression in the neutral zone forces multiple BU turnovers. As a whistles blows for a stoppage in play, just a second remains before Gerbe returns to the ice.
BU is back on the power play as Gerbe is once again in the box, this time for slashing at 3:44.
The teams are back at it for the second period of play. BC killed off the final seconds of the penalty to Gerbe and the teams are back to five-a-side.

The first period of the 55th Beanpot title game is in the books with BU leading BC, 1-0. The Terriers outshot the Eagles, 11-9, in a period that featured plenty of up-and-down, fast-paced hockey. BU will start the second period on the power play, as Gerbe serves the final 30 seconds of ihs tripping minor.
Nathan Gerbe was whistled for tripping in the offensive zone, much to the dismay of the BC faithful, most of whom felt it was a dive by the BU defenseman when shown on the Jumbotron. Nonetheless, BU will go on the power play for the first time tonight with 1:30 remaining in the first.

The Boston University forecheck has made it difficult for the Eagles to work their breakout from the defensive zone. Both teams are getting their offensive chances. With just 8:32 gone, each club has put six shots on net. Schneider was just forced to make a point-blank save on Brian ‘Boomer’ Ewing after yet another BC turnover in the defensive zone gave the Terriers a grade ‘A’ opportunity.
