George Pasquarello made 38 saves as Neumann shut out Scranton 5-0.
Patrick Kilgallen scored twice for the Knights, once shorthanded and once on the power play.
Jeff Marinari scored the game-winning goal shorthanded at 3:16 of the second period. Also scoring for Neumann were Carles Waskalavitch and Chad Conicello.
Scranton goalie Cliff Harrington made 36 saves in the loss.
Neumann was 1 of 8 on the power play, while Scranton was scoreless on 11 chances and gave up two shorthanded goals.
Neumann (1-0-0) hosts Manhattanville Oct. 27, in its first ECAC West conference matchup, before traveling to Elmira and hosting RIT in conference games the following weekend. Scranton, the only Division III independent, plays an ECHA club schedule. The Royals have one more NCAA game this season, at ECAC Northeast Suffolk, Jan. 19, 2002.
