Nicklin named new volunteer assistant at Minnesota-Duluth

Minnesota-Duluth has named former Bulldogs’ goaltender Brant Nicklin its new volunteer assistant coach. Nicklin, who replaces Bill Watson, has served as the UMD women’s goaltending coach the past four seasons and as an assistant coach at St. Scholastica since 1995-96.

Capitals sign Minnesota-Duluth junior Herbert to two-year contract

Minnesota-Duluth junior forward Caleb Herbert will bypass his senior year with the Bulldogs after he recently signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals. Minnesota D-I men’s teams to play for North Star College Cup

The official title to Minnesota’s inaugural Division I men’s tournament that will be staged in January 2014 is the North Star College Cup. The event runs January 24-25, 2014, in St. Paul, Minn., with Minnesota, Minnesota State, Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State all taking part. Bemidji State will not participate in the 2014 event.

Ice Breaker headed to Notre Dame in 2014, Maine in 2015

College Hockey Inc. will stage the season-opening Ice Breaker Tournament at Notre Dame in 2014 and in Portland, Maine, in 2015.
