Minnesota D-I men’s teams to play for North Star College Cup
The official title to Minnesota’s inaugural Division I men’s tournament that will be staged in January 2014 is the North Star College Cup. The event runs January 24-25, 2014, in St. Paul, Minn., with Minnesota, Minnesota State, Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State all taking part. Bemidji State will not participate in the 2014 event.
U.S. men’s Olympic camp roster heavy on former college players
More than two-thirds of the players selected for the camp that will help select the 2014 U.S. men’s Olympic team come from college hockey roots. Ice Breaker headed to Notre Dame in 2014, Maine in 2015
College Hockey Inc. will stage the season-opening Ice Breaker Tournament at Notre Dame in 2014 and in Portland, Maine, in 2015. Guy Gosselin, a regional manager of USA Hockey’s American Development Model, will be enshrined into the Minnesota-Duluth Athletic Hall of Fame. Friedli named new USA Hockey Fishman intern
USA Hockey announced Wednesday that Zack Friedli has been named the 15th recipient of the Brian Fishman Internship. Friedli, who will graduate from Minnesota-Duluth this spring, is currently an intern in the school’s sports information department, with his duties including assisting with game day operations at UMD men’s hockey games.
Berlo named new AD at Minnesota-Duluth
Josh Berlo has been named the new director of intercollegiate athletics at Minnesota-Duluth. He spent the past 12 years at Notre Dame as the senior assistant athletics director for guest relations and event marketing.
