It’s been over 28 years since Jerry York chalked up his first win as a collegiate head coach. Since that time, disco, Watergate, the VCR, Iran-contra, a 12-team NCAA tournament, Tiger Woods and the CD player have all come, and in some cases, gone. But one thing doesn’t change: York keeps on winning. On the occasion of York’s 600th victory, Dave Hendrickson looks in.

Alaska-Anchorage head coach Dean Talafous has received a two-year contract extension and a raise from the school, according to the Anchorage Daily News. After four losing seasons at Michigan Tech, and a 1-7-1 start, Tim Watters resigned as head coach. He will be replaced by Mike Sertich, who spent 18 years as head coach at Minnesota-Duluth before resigning at the end of last season.
Plans for North Dakota State to start a men’s and women’s ice hockey program beginning in 2002-03 have been revived, according to an article in The (Fargo) Forum today.
