This Week in Hockey East: New Hampshire needs execution ‘where it needs to be’ if conference playoffs in the cards

New Hampshire is not too far removed from a 7-3-1 stretch that took the Wildcats from a club with no postseason hopes up to a spot where earning home ice seemed realistic. But back-to-back losses to Boston University followed by a series a week ago against UMass Lowell where the Wildcats probably played well enough to take more than the single point that they did, and suddenly, it is the midnight hour for this UNH team (photo: Rich Gagnon).

This Week in Hockey East: Surging UConn has shot at regular-season title, home ice for 2020 playoffs

This Week in Hockey East: Coming off third straight Beanpot title, Northeastern aiming to rise in standings, get better playoff position

If the season ended today, and games in hand were ignored, Northeastern would miss the Hockey East playoffs after finishing in ninth place. The Huskies, however, would qualify for the NCAA tournament as an at-large team based on being 12th in the PairWise (photo: Rich Gagnon).

USCHO has learned that 11 candidates for the Hockey East commissioner job were interviewed this week, led by an executive search firm and a panel of both coaches and athletic directors. From the original group of 11, four have become finalists and will interview again in the second week of February before someone is finally chosen (photo: Rich Gagnon).
