Only one small tweak was needed once we put together the full bracket with bracket integrity.
Our final Bracketology will be posted soon but until then here are the 16 teams that have earned spots in the 2022 NCAA Division I men’s hockey tournament, broken down by seed.
Twelve teams are locked into the 2022 Division I men’s NCAA tournament. Here’s Saturday’s conference championship schedule and what can happen to get the final four teams settled.
Selection Sunday is just a few days away, which means the NCAA picture for most of the schools is getting quite clear. We’ve mentioned it elsewhere this week, but we can say with full certainty that the top 10 teams in the PairWise have secured their spots: Minnesota State, Michigan, Denver, North Dakota, Minnesota, Western … Read more
We’re three weeks into Braceketology and we’re already seeing some conference tournament results that are having lasting impact. Last weekend, it was Ohio State losing its series in three games to Penn State. The Buckeyes have no games remaining to change their PairWise possibilities, and right now OSU sits right on the tournament bubble – … Read more
As we approach the home stretch of the college hockey season, we’re seeing some teams really solidify their NCAA tournament positions. We can say certainly that Minnesota State, Michigan and Minnesota all have punched their NCAA tickets and Denver, North Dakota, Western Michigan Notre Dame and St. Cloud State are all virtual locks (though my … Read more
It’s finally that time of year where everyone is wondering what teams will make the NCAA men’s Division I ice hockey tournament and, more so, where their favorite teams will likely be playing. Thus, we’ll dust off the old column called Bracketology. Each week until selection Sunday, Jayson Moy and I try to give you … Read more
With Selection Sunday now in the rear-view mirror and the tourney a few days away from beginning, Jayson Moy and Jim Connelly analyze the bracket.
We’ve seen all six conference tournaments completed and here are both Jayson’s and Jim’s fields, as well as how they place them into regionals. It’s amazing how controversial this year has been but how close Jayson and Jim are with their final fields. How they move teams around, though, is very much different. Jayson: Here … Read more
We’re inching ever so close to Selection Sunday so let’s take another look at Bracketology.
Right now, there are just nine college hockey games remaining after the NCHC (North Dakota) and Big Ten (Minnesota) crowned their champions. Hockey East has whittled their field to two teams, ECAC is down to three and WCHA and AHA still have their final four to be played.
We promised it last week, that in this week’s Bracketology, Jayson and I would try to find some sort of agreement on a field, just like being on the NCAA committee.
If we’re able to do that (spoiler: we’re not), we’ll attempt to put together what we think the regionals should look like.
Last week, in the inaugural edition of Bracketology for the 2020-21 season, Jim and Jayson attempted to layout their potential field for this year’s NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey tournament.
Let’s see how these two approach this week:
It certainly is a strange year in college hockey and thus this year’s Bracketology column regarding the selection and seeding of the men’s NCAA Division I ice hockey tournament will be a little bit different than in the past.
With the conference tournaments in full swing, there are already teams that have finished their seasons while some continue to hold hope that they will automatically go or be selected to be in the NCAA tournament (photo: Jim Rosvold).
Tournament time is starting in college hockey and that means that the hopes and dreams of some teams will be dashed and some will continue on. Some are seemingly safe, while others know that it is win or go home time (photo: David Faulkner – SPX SPORTS).
For the first time since Bracketology premiered about a month ago, there is balance among the top four teams in the PairWise. We have two teams from the west in North Dakota and Minnesota State and two from the east in Cornell and Boston College (photo: Rich Gagnon).
The topsy-turvy world of college hockey is seeing the bubble change rapidly from week to week. There are so many games and results that are affecting what is happening at the moment (photo: Craig Houtz/Penn State Athletics).
We’re down to five and a half weeks until selection Sunday, and as things begin to shape up in terms of what teams are getting closer to punching their NCAA tickets, we are also running into some problems on how to best seed the tournament (photo: Jim Rosvold/University of Minnesota).
For years, you have read as Jayson Moy has provided you with breakdowns on the PairWise Rankings and how, from week-to-week, that might impact how the NCAA tournament is seeded. His bracketology has become famous, often duplicated, though rarely ever matched. Jayson and Jim Connelly have decided that this season, we’re taking it to a new level (photo: Rich Gagnon).
