ECAC West Weekly Picks, Dec. 9 – Jan. 3

Another week goes by where I blow the picks in league games, but do well in the nonconference play.  Maybe Santa will help me sort out the teams within the ECAC West standings, because it is a big jumble right now. Lucky for me, all teams are in the throes of nonconference play for the … Read more

ECAC West Weekly Picks, Dec. 2-7

Neumann threw me a curve before Thanksgiving.  I had picked the Knights to beat Manhattanville and then lose to Utica but the opposite happened.  Go figure. Other than that, my picks were pretty close to dead on, particularly the tournament games of Hobart and Elmira. This week, there is one last round of league games … Read more

Toughest tournament

Elmira played in arguably the most difficult tournament of the season after turkey day, the Primelink hosted by Middlebury this year.  Entering the weekend, the tournament was made up of No. 1 Norwich, No. 6 Plattsburgh, No. 10 Elmira and No. 11 Middlebury.  Tough competition indeed. “It was fun getting a chance to play those … Read more

ECAC West Weekend Recap

Circular game results have hit the ECAC West early this season.  Hobart beat Manhattanville on November 4.  This past weekend, Manhattanville beat Neumann, which beat Utica, but Utica beat Hobart on November 12.  My head is spinning. The only team that has been able to stay above the fray is Elmira, and that has driven … Read more

ECAC West Weekly Picks, Nov. 18-27

Flipping a coin worked pretty good last week, as I went 4-0.  However, I heard some grumblings about my picks when I visited Hobart on Saturday.  It is hard to make everyone happy. This week, a bit of a bonus as I’m making picks through the Thanksgiving weekend, as teams hit the holiday tournaments. I … Read more

ECAC West Weekly Picks, Nov. 11-12

My picks for last week started out bad, missing both games on Friday night.  But I was perfect on Saturday and Sunday to earn a respectable weekend performance. This week’s games are even harder to pick, as three of the games are within the league and could easily go either way.  Time to flip a … Read more
