John Ronan and Tom Davis will join the Harvard men’s hockey coaching staff, the school announced Thursday.
Both will serve as assistant coaches to first-year head coach Rob Rassey. Ronan joins the Crimson from Union and Davis comes from Princeton.
“Both bring tremendous hockey knowledge and ECAC experience to our staff, and we look forward to seeing how they can contribute to the development of our program and players,” Rassey said in a statement.
Ronan is coming off his 12 seasons at Union, beginning as a volunteer assistant in 2013-14, the year Union won the NCAA championship. He was Union’s interim head coach for the final 17 games of the 2021-22 season, guiding the team to a first-round sweep of Princeton in the ECAC tournament.
Ronan also coached at Mercyhurst and with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL. He played four seasons at Maine from 2001-05, recording 47 points in 132 career games and serving as team captain as a senior.
A Princeton graduate, Davis joined the Tigers’ coaching staff in 2020 after previously serving as the program’s Director of Hockey Operations in 2018 and 2019. Davis skated in 97 games on the blue line for the Tigers and served as an assistant captain. During his fourth year of eligibility, Davis played at Providence.
