Steve Piotrowski will return to the position of NCAA secretary-rules editor for men’s and women’s hockey, effective Sept. 1, it was announced this week. He held the position previously from 2008-19.
Piotrowski succeeds Jeff Fulton, who was named national coordinator of men’s hockey officials last week.
“College hockey has given me tremendous opportunities throughout my career, and I see this role as a meaningful way to give back,” Piotrowski said via statement. “I pursued this role because I believe the rules are one of the foundations of competitive integrity in college hockey.”
Since 2012, Piotrowski has served as the coordinator of men’s hockey officials for B1G. From 2007-12, he served as director of officials for the CCHA. Before moving to the administrative side of officiating, he worked as an on-ice official from 1983-2007, officiating more than 1,300 D-I men’s games, including 14 NCAA tournaments and six national championship games.
Piotrowski, who played collegiate hockey at Ferris State, was selected by the International Ice Hockey Federation to officiate world championship and world junior championship games.
