Alaska Anchorage is turning to Eric Rud as the eighth head coach in Seawolf history.
Rud was most recently an assistant at St. Cloud State, before that associate head coach at Miami (Ohio), and earlier the head coach of St. Cloud State’s women’s program. He’s also spent plenty of time in junior hockey, including head coaching stops with Sioux Falls and Green Bay, and has deep ties to USA Hockey, highlighted by a gold medal at the 2022 World Junior A Challenge.
Rud played at Colorado College, where he was a two-time captain and top defenseman, and later logged a few pro seasons before moving into coaching.
“I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to lead our group into the next chapter of UAA hockey,” said Rud, in a statement. “I can’t wait to dig in with our current team and also share the endless opportunities that exist within our program with the next generation of future Seawolves.”
