
UPDATED, 9:17 p.m. ET: Gavin McKenna’s arraignment hearing took place at the Centre County Courthouse where unsecured bail was set at $20,000. A preliminary hearing with Magisterial District Judge Casey M. McClain, who oversaw tonight’s hearing, is set for February 11, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.

Penn State freshman and arguably the most talked about recruit from the Canadian Hockey League this season Gavin McKenna faces felony assault charges and as well as misdemeanor simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct in relation to an incident in State College, Pa.
The story was first reported by both Onward State, Penn State student newspaper and Evan Smith, Sports Director at WKPS, a Penn State student radio station.
According to the post on X, McKenna was involved in an incident at Doggies Pub on Saturday night. It alleges that McKenna broke the jaw of a patron at the bar after one of the patrons – it is not clear whether it was McKenna or the victim – were asked to leave the establishment.

According to the police report, he is awaiting a preliminary hearing on the matter.
