Women’s Hockey Weekend Wrap – October 27, 2025

Minnesota State at (1) Wisconsin

The Badgers remained one of just three undefeated teams let in the country (alongside Penn State and Cornell) with a pair of wins this weekend over Mankato. On Sunday, Cassie Hall, Adéla Šapovalivová, Claire Enright and Kelly Gorbatenko each scored for Wisconsin in a 4-0 win. MSU goalie Hailey Hansen made 44 saves and her defense put up 16 blocks in the loss. On Sunday, the Badgers went off in the first, putting the game out of hand before the first intermission as Hannah Halverson, Lacey Eden, Gorbatenko and Hall each lit the lamp to make it 4-0. Enright and Maggie Scannell extended the lead in the second to 6-0 and Šapovalivová and Finley McCarthy added two more in the third to secure the 8-0 win and weekend sweep.

(11) St. Cloud State at (2) Ohio State

Ohio State won the third period in both games this weekend and that carried them to a weekend sweep. On Friday, the Buckeyes had a 1-0 lead after one thanks to a back-door tap in by Brooke Disher. Maria Mikaelyan tied the game for St. Cloud early in the second, but that’s as close as things would get. Hilda Svensson buried a penalty shot midway through the game for what would prove to be the game winner. From there, Ohio State picked things up even more as Joy Dunne, Sloane Matthews and Sanni Vanhanen each scored in the third to put the game away and take a 5-1 win. Things looked different on Saturday as SCSU carried a 1-0 lead into the third thanks to a goal from Maélie Pion. Julianne Labbé dbouled the lead before two minutes passed in the final frame. But the Buckeyes upped the pressure and Dunne put away a rebound midway through the third to make it a 2-1 game. The pivotal momebt came when a review gave Pion a major penalty and game misconduct for contact to the head, giving Ohio State a long power play. And they took advantage. Dunne and Emma Peschel scored during the long advantage, putting the Buckeyes ahead 3-2. A late goal with under a minute to play completed the hat trick for Dunne and gave OSU the 4-2 win and sweep.

(3) Minnesota at (4) Minnesota Duluth

After a back and forth scoreless first, Ava Lindsay opened the scoring 46 seconds into the second, tipping in a shot from outside by Sydney Morrow. Madison Kaiser’s shot from the slot less than three minutes later doubled the lead to 2-0. Morrow and Lindsay paired up again when Morrow forced a turnover and hit Lindsay, who one-timed it home to make it 3-0. Jamie Nelson’s wrister on the power play in the third closed out the scoring and the Gophers took a 4-0 win on Friday. In the second game, it was once again close and scoreless through one. This time it was UMD to score first as Caitlin Kraemer’s wraparound made it 1-0 Bulldogs. Minnesota responded less than four minutes later on a well-placed one-timer from Josefin Bouveng. Abby Murphy’s pretty puck handling put the Gophers ahead 2-1 at the second intermission. She scored her second of the game on an odd-player rush in the third to make it 3-1. Duluth pulled their goalie on a late power play and closed the gap thanks to Josie St. Martin, but they ran out of time to complete the comeback as Minnesota took the 3-2 win and weekend sweep.

(5) Cornell at Harvard

The Crimson came out strong and out-shot Cornell 13-6 in the first, but the Big Red made their shots count as Georgia Schiff and Lindzi Avar each found the back of the net to put the visiting team up 2-0 at the first intermission. Sarah MacEachern extended the lead to 3-0 with a pinpoint perfect shot. Emily Hamann cut into the lead for Harvard to make it 3-1 but Avi Adam quickly responded to restore the three-goal lead heading into the final frame. Emi Biotti’s goal early in the third made it 4-2, but Harvard couldn’t get closer and Nora Curtis’ goal with about five to play secured the 5-2 win for Cornell.

(5) Cornell at Dartmouth

The Big Red were three-for-five on the power play and that made all the difference on Saturday as they cruised to a 5-0 win. Nora Curtis scored twice while Avi Adam and Karel Prefontaine each had a goal and two assists and Lindzi Avar added a goal to lead Cornell to the win.

Lindenwood at (6) Penn State

Lindenwood’s Michaela Paulinyova opened the scoring on Friday, forcing a turnover and scoring on the breakaway to make it 1-0 Lions after one. But Penn State broke out in the second as Tessa Janecke scored twice and Matilde Fantine and Nicole Hall each scored once to make it 4-1 after two. Grace Outwater and Hall each scored in the second to give Penn State the 6-1 win. On Saturday, Katelyn Roberts buried a drop pass from Janecke to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead at the first break. Abby Stonehouse placed a top corner shot three minutes into the second to extend the lead to 2-0. Roberts scored her second after a net-front scrum to make it 3-0. Fantin took a pass from the boards from Stonehouse and buried it to extend the lead to 4-0. Seconds later, Kendall Butze took advantage of a bounce off Taylor Lum’s stick to close out the scoring and give Penn State the 5-0 win and weekend sweep.

(7) Quinnipiac at (13) Yale

The teams played scoreless first before Taylor Brueske took off on a breakaway to get Quinnipiac on the board 1:17 into the first. Bryn Prier cleaned up a loose puck in front of the net a few minutes later to give the Bobcats the 2-0 lead. Jordan Ray ruined the shutout and got Yale on the board with about six minutes left, but the Bulldogs couldn’t find an equalizer and Emerson Jarvis’ empty-netter secured the 3-1 win for Quinnipiac.

(7) Quinnipiac at Brown

Rory Edwards posted a 33-save shutout to lead Brown to a 1-0 upset of Quinnipiac on Saturday. Bobcat goalie Felicia Frank had 31 saves in the loss. Both teams pushed back and forth for more than 48 minutes of the game, but could not find a way to beat the stellar goaltending. Each team rang the post early in the third, but it was India McDadi on a give and go with Margot Norehad on the power play that broke the stalemate with what would prove to be the game-winner. It looked like Quinnipiac might have equalized as Bryn Prier put the puck in the net with 77 seconds left on the clock, but Brown successfully challenged for a hand pass prior to the goal. The goal was overturned and the Bears held on til the final buzzer to take a 1-0 win.

(8) Connecticut at Mercyhurst

In the first game, Mercyhurst scored on the power play with a goal from Berlin Lolacher in the first. That score held for more than 40 minutes before UConn responded with an extra-attacker goal of their own from Maya Serdachny. Neither team could find the winner in overtime as the game ended a 1-1 tie. On Saturday, the goals came in pairs as first Connecticut got on the board with goals from Megan Woodworth and Serdachny. Mercyhurst reponded in the final minute of the first as Regina Metzler made it a 2-1 game at the first intermission. Sophia McKinley tied the game a few minutes into the second, making it 2-2. That lasted all of 90 seconds before Claire Murdoch put UConn head one more time. Julia Pellerin’s power play goal with 1.1 seconds left in the second frame gave the Huskies a 4-2 lead. Jessica Ciarrocchi pulled one back for the Lakers early in the third, but the Connecticut defense held strong and Tia Chan made 14 of her 24 saves in the final frame to secure the 4-3 win.

(9) Colgate at Dartmouth

Sara Stewart had Colgate up 1-0 early on thanks to a power play goal 2:05 into the game. Cally Dixon tied the game eight minutes later with a power play goal of her own, cleaning up a loose puck at the back post to make it 1-1. Shae Messner’s backhand from close range was stopped, but she cleaned up her own rebound and put it back at a tight angle to give the Big Green a 2-1 lead in the second. Sydney Putrah scored her first career goal in the third to extend the lead to 3-1 early in the third, but Colgate responded in transition, as Elyssa Biedermann narrowed the lead to 3-2. Dartmouth played some shut down defense in the closing minutes, even as Colgate pulled their goalie and Dixon scored on the empty-net to secure the 4-2 win for the Big Green.

(9) Colgate at Harvard

Five different Raiders scored to lead the Raiders to a 5-0 win on Saturday. Jaimee Spring, Emma Pais, Elyssa Biederman, Alexis Petford and Avery Pickering all lit the lamp in the win.

(10) Clarkson at Union

The Golden Knights used four power play goals to overwhelm Union on Friday and take a 5-2 win. Sena Catterall scored Clarkson’s only even strength goal in the opening minutes to make it a 1-0 game. But Union pushed back, scoring twice later in the first to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. First Mikayla Blomquist got free on an odd-player rush to tie the game. Klara Kenttala capitalized on a power play for the second goal. But the lead lasted just 41 seconds as Keira Hurry was able to bury a rebound from a Sara Manness shot to tie the game 2-2 heading into the first intermission. Penalty trouble late in the second doomed Union as Rhea Hicks, Hurry and Catterall each scored on the power play to earn Clarkson the win.

(10) Clarkson at RPI

The teams were tied at the end of the first after Lara Beecher put Clarkson up at the midpoint and then Nina Christof got RPI on the board in the final minute of the frame. But Clarkson came back with a vengeance, scoring twice in the second and four times in the third to put the game out of reach and give the Golden Knights a 7-1 win. Sara Manness and Beecher each had two goals and two assists while Sena Catterall added four assists to lead Clarkson. Kate Manness, Madison Chantler and Morgan Walter also scored in the win.

Providence at (13) St. Thomas

Friday’s third period was so crazy I went back and watched it a second time. It was the first game in St. Thomas’ Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, but Providence made their mark early, scoring just 23 seconds in as Julia Pellerin made it a 1-0 game. Just St. Thomas quickly pushed back as Teagan Kulenkamp and then Ilsa Lindaman scored in the first to give the Tommies a 2-1 lead. But Providence wasn’t done as Sarah Davies tied the game before the intermission to send the teams to the locker rooms tied 2-2. From there, Reichen Kirchmair took over, scoring three straight in the second for a natural hat trick and a 5-2 lead for the Friars. However, the game was far from over. Rylee Bartz started St. Thomas’ comeback, scoring on the power play about eight minutes into the third. Whitney Horton scored four minutes later to cut the lead to 5-4 with about eight minutes left in regulation. Ella Boerger scored with under four to play to tie the game and Lindaman’s power play goal with 1:17 left on the clock put St. Thomas ahead 6-5. Despite a massive possession and shot disadvantage, Providence did not back down. They pulled their goalie for an extra attacker and Pellerin took advantage, scoring with about 40 seconds left to force overtime. In the extra frame, both teams had a few prime opportunities, but in the end it was Providence’s star of the night, Kirchmair, who popped a shot so quick that St. Thomas kept playing because they never saw it go in and out of the net. Providence took a 7-6 win, spoiling the Tommies’ opening night. But St. Thomas got their revenge on Saturday as five different skaters found the back of the net to lead the home team to a 5-1 win – their first in their new arena – and weekend split. Horton, Chloe Boreen, Bartz, Boerger and Nora Sauer all scored for the Tommies in the win. Bella Paolucci was the goal scorer for Providence in the loss.

Princeton at (13) Yale

Goals from Jane Kuehl and Mackenzie Alexander had Princeton up 2-0 early in the second but from there Carina Di Antonio went to work. Late in the second she scored on the power play with a pass from behind the net that she backhanded in to make it a 2-1 game at the second intermission. Ninety-two seconds into the second, her wrister caromed off the goalie and into the net to tie the game 2-2. With under ten to play, she completed the natural hat trick to put the Bulldogs up 3-2. Katherine Khramtsov forced overtime with a goal with 13.2 seconds left on the clock, but DiAntonio came through again in overtime, scoring on a deke to give Yale the 4-3 overtime win.

New Hampshire at (15) Boston University

Kaileigh Quigg won a loose puck in the zone and took off down the ice to score a short-hander that put BU up 1-0 late in the first on Friday. But UNH also scored in that same power play as Kristen Hartman tied the game to make it 1-1 heading into the first intermission. After a flurry of penalties late in the second, Alyson Hush put the Wildcats up 2-1. The lead lasted just 39 seconds as Lucy Thiessen tapped in a puck from just above the crease to make it 2-2. Sydney Healy’s shot through traffic from the far faceoff circle found its way to the back of the net early in the third to give BU the 3-2 lead and she would add a short-handed empty-netter to ice the game and earn the 4-2 win.
