Friday-Saturday, Nov. 9-10
Endicott vs. University of New England
Endicott and University of New England will be looking to grab points for their conference this weekend. This series should be intense, as both teams are trying to claim the lead. Morrisville State is the reigning champion of the Colonial Hockey Conference, but does not look as strong this year, and I think this will fuel both teams to win every match possible as the first-place slot is up for grabs. Endicott 2-0, University of New England 2-1
Saint Mary’s vs. No. 9 St. Thomas
St. Thomas moving up in the rankings must give the women on their roster confidence. Saint Mary’s won both games opening weekend by a favorable margin. Both are looking to avoid their first loss this season, and I think because these teams are very similar, they split. Saint Mary’s 4-3, St. Thomas 3-0
Northland vs. St. Scholastica
Northland held their own against Adrian last weekend and seems to have a decent team this year. St. Scholastica is off to a slow start this season and not meeting the expectations I had for them. The only reason St. Scholastica pulls off this sweep is because of the home-ice advantage. St. Scholastica 2-0, 2-1
Oswego vs. Buffalo State
Oswego and Buffalo State, along with Plattsburgh, are top teams in their conference, and these points will be huge for the winner. Buffalo State’s loss to Potsdam and tie with Canton has me believing Oswego will win both games. Oswego 5-1, 4-1
Stevenson vs. William Smith
William Smith’s games with Salve Regina last weekend give them good odds at sweeping Stevenson. I expect William Smith to have a good season this year, and beating Stevenson is the start of that. William Smith 3-0, 4-2
Saturday, Nov. 10
Southern Maine vs. Castleton
These teams are very similar, but I see Southern Maine coming out with the win. Southern Maine will play Norwich the night before, and I believe the level the Cadets bring to the game will transfer over to Southern Maine and help them become better and win this game. Southern Maine 3-2
Wisconsin-Superior vs. No. 10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Wis.-Eau Claire dropped in the rankings to 10, but this will not bother the team. The Blugolds are used to the title of “underdog,” and after having a record year it seems this current season will be no different. Wis.-Eau Claire comes out with the win easily. Wis.-Eau Claire 4-0
