SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Sloppy winter weather almost kept the Falcons from earning their second-consecutive series sweep this weekend. The Mackinac Bridge, which connects Michigan’s Lower and Upper Peninsulas, was closed Friday and delayed BGSU’s arrival in Sault Ste. Marie.

The playoff-bound Falcons didn’t falter, though, as they followed up Friday night’s win with an explosive three-goal first period Saturday. Tyler Spezia finished with two goals, while Brandon Kruse had three assists.

LSSU’s Gage Torrel scored a shorthanded goal and recorded an assist.

The Falcons (16-8-6, 13-4-5 WCHA) host Michigan Tech for a pair of conference games Friday and Saturday, and LSSU (6-20-4, 4-15-3) visits Bemidji State the same nights.
