The Sun Devils took the title in the Inaugural Ice Vegas Invitational with a 3-2 victory over Michigan Tech at T-Mobile Arena.
Arizona State jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a first-period goal by Brinson Pasichnuk and second period tallies by Johnny Walker and Pasichnuk’s second of the the game.
That seemingly secure lead only set up the game’s dramatic ending.
Dylan Steman drew the Huskies with two on a power play goal at 4:58 of the third. Greyson Reitmeyer then made it a one-goal game with 3:55 left.
But Arizona State goaltender Joey Daccord slammed the door from there, finishing the game with 36 saves to earn the victory. Daccord also assisted on the Sun Devils second goal of the game.
Pasichnuk was named the tournament’s most valuable player. The tournament victory was the first in program history for the Sun Devils.
