What we learned in the WCHA: November 13

Here is what we learned this weekend:

1. The WCHA is typically known for it’s defense, but Minnesota State and Bemidji State bucked that trend this weekend as the teams combined for 21 goals in two games. The Saturday showing, which Minnesota State won 8-6, featured 14 goals and had at least four goals in each period. Marc Michaelis had five goals over the weekend, tops amongst all players in the NCAA this weekend.

2. Bowling Green was the focus of our column last week and they continued to impress with another five-point weekend.

3. Ferris State got a needed sweep against Alaska. Sophomore goalie Justin Kapelmaster played a big part and helped the Bulldogs pull themselves back into the WCHA playoff race.
