The SUNYAC announced Thursday that the 2016-17 Coach of the Year is Plattsburgh’s Bob Emery. This marks the sixth time that Emery has won this honor. In Emery’s 28th season, he led the Cardinals to a 17-9-1 overall record going into the NCAA tournament. After a slow start in conference play (2-4), the Cardinals went on a streak to finish off the conference season with a record of 10-5-1, which was good enough for the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye going into the conference tournament. In the conference tournament, Plattsburgh defeated top-seeded Oswego to claim its 23rd overall SUNYAC title. Emery will be heading to his 18th NCAA tournament appearance against Trinity on Saturday, looking to lead the Cardinals to his third national championship.
