Atlantic Hockey picks Jan. 27-31

Last Week: 7-3-3
On the Season: 123-44-21 (.710)

This Week’s Picks:

Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28

Niagara vs. Robert Morris – The former CHA rivals are currently in fifth and third place, respectively, with just two points separating them. The teams, who tied 2-2 earlier this season, play at RMU on Friday and the action moved to Niagara on Saturday. Both have been very good at home, so I’m going with the home team in both games. Robert Morris 3, Niagara 2; Niagara 4, Robert Morris 2.

Mercyhurst at Rochester Institute of Technology – You can’t ask for more than first vs. second place. Mercyhurst won the earlier meeting between the teams in Erie. This is the time of year when it’s hard to pick against the Tigers at home, but I think the Lakers earn a road split. Mercyhurst 4, RIT 2; RIT 3, Mercyhurst 2.

Holy Cross vs. Connecticut – The teams are tied for six place, just three points out of a first-round bye. UConn hosts on Friday; Holy Cross on Saturday. The Crusaders have been tough to beat at home this season, plus I think they’ll win on the road as well. Holy Cross 3, UConn 2; Holy Cross 4, UConn 3.

Bentley vs. Army – Another home-and-home series at begins at West Point on Friday. The Falcons won the earlier meeting between the two teams, and I’m picking them to take a series sweep. Bentley 3, Army 2; Bentley 4, Army 1.

Sacred Heart vs. American International – The Yellow Jackets host in Springfield, Mass. on Friday and the action moves down Route 91 to Milford, Conn. the following night. I’m picking AIC to sweep a pair of close games. AIC 5, Sacred Heart 4; AIC 3, Sacred Heart 2.

Sunday, Jan. 29 and Monday, Jan. 30

Air Force at Canisius – The Falcons lead the all-time series 6-5-5, including a 3-3 tie back in October. I think Air Force takes both games outright. Air Force 3, Canisius 1; Air Force 4, Canisisu 3.

Tuesday, Jan. 31

Connecticut at Princeton – This is the final non-conference game of the season for Atlantic Hockey. Princeton leads the all-time series 2-0 but I’m picking the Huskies here. UConn 3, Princeton 2.
