BC’s Dan Bertram got a quality shorthanded bid skating in on a 2-on-1. His five-hole bid, though, was stopped by Curry. 26 seconds left on the BU power play and 1:30 left in the game.

A BU scrum in front that resulted in the red light going on while referee Benedetto waved no goal resulted in the first instant replay sitution of the tournament. Upon further review, the puck never crossed the line, instead hit the post and then landed under Schneider. Regardless, BU is finally getting chances.
BU got only its third shot on goal of the period with 3:59 remaining. Schneider made a routine glove save.
BC kills the BU power play allowing only one quality shot to Matt Gilroy that forced Schneider to make a right pad save.
Thanks to colleague Scott Weighart for giving commentary on my men’s room needs. More importantly, though, Brian Boyle took a bad slashing penalty in the neutral zone that will send BU on the power play with 7:18 remaining.

After Joe Rooney hooked a BU played in the neutral zone, Boomer Ewing was whistled for boarding as the whistle blew making it a 4-on-3 BC power play for 1:03.
The game just saw its most wild 20 second span. After Gerbe got leveled by Sean Sullivan at the blueline by a massive hit, Brock Bradford was stopped on a breakaway by a fantastic left pad save. Carl Sneep was completely alone mano-a-mano with Curry in the slot. The rookie defenseman, though, fired the shot into Curry’s pads allowing him to make the save. 12:00 remaining with the game tied at one.
Boomer Ewing was all alone in the slot but put the shot into Schneider’s stomach. With 14:25 remaining, the game is tied at one.
BC’s Mike Brennan just delivered what might be the hit of the Beanpot, upending John McCarty as he broke in on Schneider. At this point the pace of the game just increased three-fold. Also, BC’s goal ended a shutout streak of 116:16 for BU’s John Curry in the Beanpot.
It took just 2:40, but BC has evened the game as Nathan Gerbe buried a shot when all alone in front of Curry. Anthony Aiello, who fired the original shot from the left point that was deflected to a wide open Gerbe.
The puck is dropped on period three. The question on many minds is will this be the final period of this year’s Beanpot?
It’s clear looking at the stats that John Curry was the hero for BU in the second period. BC mustered 13 shots on goal, 10 of those coming from the grade ‘A’ area. The Terriers killed the two BC power plays and the second period closed with BU hanging onto the 1-0 lead. Thanks to BC’s late power plays, it held a 15-6 advantage in shots in the period and has a 22-17 edge through two. We’ll be back with game stats through forty minutes when they’re available.
