The All-USCHO D-III teams represented eight of the 10 Division III conferences, and 19 schools were represented on them. Sid Watson Award winner Evan Buitenhuis led the way on the first team, with runner-up Stephen Collins also first team.
The “B” in the University of New England’s feared BFF line (with the Fleurant brothers), Ryan Bloom led all rookies in scoring and is our USCHO rookie of the year.
He guided his team to a national championship and outstanding 27-1-3 record. Norwich’s Mike McShane is our coach of the year.
He was third in the country in scoring with 48 points, averaging 1.78 points per game, and finished as runner-up for the Sid Watson Award given annually by the American Hockey Coaches Association as D-III’s best player for the second year in a row. When it comes to the postseason, most teams ride one goalie as far as they can go. Norwich, however, played different goalies in the semifinal and championship games of the Frozen Four in Utica.
When Norwich went to overtime against Adrian in the second semifinal of Friday’s D-III Frozen Four, it was a familiar place, as the Cadets of have played over 100 minutes of overtime playoff hockey in the NCAA tournament since 2000.
