Women’s D-I: Northeastern has a youth movement leading it to success
Though the team is young, the Northeastern Huskies have a strong group of underclassmen leading the way at both the offensive and defensive end of the ice, and that has them off to their best start in program history.
Wednesday Women: Has parity finally arrived?
With teams all suffering losses in the first month of the season, and not team having scorers that are lighting the lamp at the expected rate, Nicole and Arlan ponder whether the game finally has the parity that has been on the verge of happening every year. They also discuss the Minnesota-Wisconsin series, why Clarkson is ranked No. 3, the top half of the ECAC, whether Harvard, Ohio State, and Minnesota Duluth can make the NCAA tournament, some of the top freshmen so far, and Northern Michigan’s announcement that it is looking at D-I women’s hockey.

Harvard’s Katey Stone has been the all-time winningest coach in women’s Division I hockey for this decade, and currently has 464 wins in her career. However, it is likely that Wisconsin’s Mark Johnson or Mercyhurst’s Mike Sisti will surpass her this weekend.

In their first Wednesday Women of the 2018-19 season, Candace and Nicole look at some early surprises, like Minnesota Duluth’s sweep of Boston College, early defensive struggles from Wisconsin and Clarkson, and the possibility of a new hockey conference.

Robert Morris at No. 1 Clarkson The Colonials pushed the defending national champions in the third period of each of their games, but the Golden Knights swept the weekend with 4-2 and 4-3 wins. In 2005, the NCAA expanded its national collegiate tournament to three rounds and eight teams.
