The New England Women’s Hockey Alliance formally announced its intent to be recognized as an NCAA national collegiate women’s hockey conference in a joint announcement Wednesday.
With the acquisition of goalie Kassidy Sauvé from Ohio State and former Quinnipiac standout scorer T.T. Cianfarano, who will add to a potent offense that includes Patty Kazmaier Award top-three finalist Loren Gabel, the Clarkson Golden Knights look poised to not only again win the ECAC, but to three-peat as national champions. Colgate and Cornell will try to throw a wrench into Clarkson’s march to glory.
Mercyhurst finished second in the regular season last year to Robert Morris, but won the CHA tournament and its auto-bid to the NCAA tournament. Robert Morris lost two key players to graduation, and Mercyhurst, returning a ton, looks to be the favorite.
