PRINCETON, N.J. — Jacob MacDonald tallied a goal and an assist to lead No. 13 Cornell to a 4-1 victory over Princeton Saturday night.
Cornell netted a power-play goal in each of the first two stanzas, taking a 2-0 lead after two.
First, Brian Ferlin scored his 12th goal of the year, as Joel Lowry fed him in the slot from behind the net. Then, Patrick McCarron took a pass from Joakim Ryan and found MacDonald at the right point for a top-shelf blast to give the Big Red a 2-0 lead.
Midway through the third, the Big Red padded their lead again, as MacDonald and Cole Bardreau fed Clint Lewis at the point for his first collegiate goal.
Princeton senior Alec Rush scored the lone goal for the Tigers, spoiling the shutout bid of goaltender Andy Iles with 2:52 left to play.
John McCarron added an empty-net goal at 18:19 to seal the game for the Big Red.
Iles improved to 13-7-5, stopping 24 of 25 shots for the Big Red. Sean Bonar made 17 saves for Princeton.
