Lakers Take Charge For Win Over Findlay

Mercyhurst won its 21st game of the season Friday night, defeating the visiting Findlay Oilers 3-1 at the Ice Center.

The Oilers scored first as senior forward Monell Schroeder scored a power-play goal at 5:47 of the first. The Lakers tied the game three minutes later when freshman forward Sara McDonald notched her 13th of the year. Findlay outshot Mercyhurst 7-3 in the opening 20 minutes.

Mercyhurst took the lead for good in the second when sophomore forward Lindsay Barch cashed a power play by deflecting junior defender Randi Pilger’s shot from the left point by Oiler junior netminder Erin Blair. Freshman forward Lindsay Dellow completed the scoring with her ninth of the year at 7:18 of the third.

Mercyhurst outshot Findlay 22-12 as freshman goalie Desi Clark picked up her tenth win of the year. Both teams were one of four on the power play.

The win improved Mercyhurst’s record to 21-7-1 while Findlay dropped to 7-18-2 in losing for the third time this season to Mercyhurst.

Mercyhurst and Findlay will conclude the weekend series Saturday night at 7 p.m.
