Canisius snapped a three-game losing streak as it defeated host Holy Cross, 3-2, Friday evening at the Hart Center Ice Rink.
The Golden Griffs got on the board quickly as Tom Wnuk sent a slapshot past Derek Cunha at 1:48 of the first period. Patrick Rissmiller extended his point-scoring streak to seven consecutive games when he flipped in a loose rebound on a Crusaders power play at 8:53 to even the game at 1-1. Canisius was able to regain the lead at 14:17 when Brad Kenney scored during a power play.
Canisius scored the lone goal of the second period to increase its lead to 3-1 as Paul Dusza slipped in a goal five seconds after the Crusaders had killed off a penalty.
Tony Deluzio closed the gap to 3-2 at 4:14 of the third stanza when he netted his sixth goal of the season. R.J. Irving tallied his second assist of the night on the play.
Cunha stopped 23 shots for Holy Cross, while counterpart Bryan Worosz made 31 saves.
The Crusaders drop to 11-8-3, 8-4-3 MAAC. Canisius is now 9-9-2, 8-6-2 MAAC.
