Shields back at Michigan as volunteer assistant coach

Former Michigan goaltender Steve Shields will join the Wolverines as a volunteer assistant coach. Shields played at the school from 1990 to 1994 and became the first NCAA goalie to reach 100 career wins (111), a record surpassed by Marty Turco (125 wins), who also played at Michigan.

The Big Ten announced Monday its All-Big Ten teams and individual award winners. Michigan State’s Jake Hildebrand was named Big Ten Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year. Komisarek back at Michigan as undergraduate assistant

Former Michigan defenseman Mike Komisarek has joined the Wolverines’ coaching staff as an undergraduate student assistant. Komisarek played two seasons at Michigan (2000-02) before embarking on an 11-year NHL career with Montreal, Toronto and Carolina. He is now finishing his undergraduate degree through the athletic department’s Degree Completion Program.

Michigan’s Yost Arena to undergo improvements to ice systems

The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved on Nov. 20 improvements to the ice systems at Yost Ice Arena.
