The Quinnipiac University Board of Trustees has voted to discontinue using “The Braves” as its athletic identity for all of its Division I men’s and women’s athletic teams. The 50th anniversary Beanpot will be televised on New England Sports Network (NESN), according to a report in the Boston Globe. College hockey fans hoping to catch an ECAC hockey game on TV during the regular season will be searching in vain. The conference has dropped plans to have a regular-season TV package this season. Jayson Moy, general manager of U.S. College Hockey Online and radio voice for numerous Rensselaer sports, is the recipient of the 2001 ECAC Ice Hockey Media Recognition Award, the ECAC announced today.

With two-time playoff champion St. Lawrence perhaps due for a down year, rising programs like Harvard and Dartmouth are poised to take the crown.
