Thoughts on Selection Sunday

Northeast Regional I’ll be covering the Northeast Regional in Manchester and love the games I’ll be watching.  If I had my druthers, I’d have preferred Merrimack in Bridgeport so there’d be the potential of three Hockey East teams in the Frozen Four (hello, 1999!).  The Warriors’ path to the Frozen Four would also probably have been … Read more

Hockey East picks : Championship Weekend

Dave “pulled the goalie” last week in a desperate attempt to close ground, but as usually happens when that tactic is employed, he just widened the gap.  With just these three games left, Jim has clinched the picks title.  A tip of the fedora to Jimmy (and a well-timed one on St. Patrick’s Day)! Dave last … Read more

The sadness and euphoria

First, the euphoria. I approached Merrimack’s Lawler Arena on Saturday night about an hour before game time and was suddenly gripped with fear.  Spring forward, fall back.  I must have screwed up, I thought.  But Daylight Savings Time didn’t start until Sunday.  I was an hour early.  Wasn’t I? UNH never trailed, however, getting a goal in each period. Paul Thompson and Phil DeSimone each … Read more
