The first Women’s World Championship under a new schedule starts Friday, and Nicole Haase and Todd Milewski discuss it and its impact on the NCAA level in this edition of The PodKaz.
The tournament used to be in April, well clear of the NCAA schedule. But it moved to November to fall before the PWHL season, and that will have an impact on the tournament. Most non-collegiate players aren’t in game shape yet.
On the college side, losing players over the first weeks of the season has disrupted team building processes, and coaches have been critical of not having a voice in the decision-making process that came to the November schedule for the World Championship.
This week’s NCAA games to watch include Princeton and Quinnipiac hosting Colgate and Cornell, a home-and-home series between UConn and Boston College and Assumption playing at LIU.
