
Matthew Van Blaricom had two goals and an assist to lead No. 19 Michigan Tech to a 3-2 season-opening home win over No. 14 Minnesota on Saturday at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
“It was a tremendous game, but we were able to make one more play in the third period and hang on,” Michigan Tech coach Bill Muckalt said. “I’m excited for our group, and it’s going to be another tough game (Sunday).”

Kalem Parker made a quick pass to Van Blaricom for a one-timer at 11:44 of the third period. It was Van Blaricom’s fourth career goal.
“It was a surreal feeling — especially hearing my name chanted — but all the credit goes to the rest of the team,” Van Blaricom said. “We played our hearts out and stuck to our game plan.”
Elias Jansson also scored for Tech. Tate Pritchard and Beckett Hendrickson scored for Minnesota. In goal, Luca Di Pasquo had 25 saves for the Gophers while Owen Bartoszkiewicz had 29 stops for the Huskies.
No. 2 Michigan 4, Bowling Green 3
Brandon Naurato notched win No. 100 of his career as No. 2 Michigan was a 4-3 winner at Bowling Green on Saturday night.

Jayden Perron scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and added two assists for a 4-point performance. Michael Hage also had a 4-point night with a goal and three assists.
Goalie Jack Ivankovic made 38 saves on 41 shots. Jacob Steinman of Bowling Green had 26 saves.
No. 1 Denver 4, Alaska Anchorage 1
A 3-goal barrage in the final period blew open a game that was tied after two, with the final result being a 4-1 win for top-ranked Denver at Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night.

Sam Harris, Ryan Miller, Michael Berchild and Ryan Lin scored for the Pioneers, while Tyler Krivtsov had 15 saves.
No. 5 Minnesota Duluth 4, Long Island 0
Minnesota Duluth improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-0 win over Long Island on Saturday night before a crowd of 6,054 at Amsoil Arena.

For the Bulldogs, Barrett Hall, Ryan Zaremba, Grayden Siepmann and Zam Plante were the goal scorers. Carl Axelsson had 17 saves for Duluth in net. For LIU, Daniel Duris had 35 saves.
No. 6 Wisconsin 1, Robert Morris 0

Wisconsin swept the 2-game series vs. the Colonials of Atlantic Hockey America by an aggregate score of 5-3.
Charlie Schenkel had 42 saves for Robert Morris, while the Badgers’ Daniel Hauser turned away 18 shots.
No. 7 Quinnipiac 6, No. 20 Merrimack 3
A whopping 13 different players recorded at least one point for No. 7 Quinnipiac on Saturday night, as the Bobcats earned their second win in as many nights over a Hockey East foe, 6-3 over No. 20 Merrimack.

Elliott Groenewold, Tyler Borgula and Antonin Verreault all recorded multi-point nights to lead Quinnipiac. Groenewold finished the weekend with a pair of assists in both games, culminating in a four-point weekend. He now has five multi-assist and seven multi-point games to his credit.
Rorke Applebee had 25 saves in net for Quinnipiac, while Merrimack’s Linards Feldbergs had 35 saves.
