Bemidji State coach Tom Serratore will retire following the 2026-27 season, ending a 26-year tenure behind the Beaver bench, the university announced Wednesday.
Associate head coach Travis Winter will succeed Serratore beginning with the 2027-28 season.
Serratore, who played at Bemidji State from 1985-87, took over as head coach in 2001 and guided the program through its transition to NCAA Division I hockey. He has led the Beavers to seven conference regular-season championships, three conference tournament titles, six NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2009 Frozen Four.
Entering his final season, Serratore has 416 career victories, ranking second in program history and 29th among Division I coaches.
Winter, a former two-time Bemidji State captain, joined the coaching staff in 2014 after coaching in the NAHL and USHL. He has helped the Beavers win two conference championships and reach two NCAA Tournaments while overseeing the team’s defense and power play.
Winter also served on the U.S. National Junior Team staff at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.
