After delivering one of the most productive offensive seasons in college hockey, Minnesota Duluth’s Max Plante has been named USCHO Player of the Year.
A cornerstone for the Bulldogs offense, Plante finished the season with 52 points on 25 goals and 27 assists in 40 games, ranking third nationally in points and tied for second in goals. He averaged 1.30 points per game and 3.8 shots per game, placing among the top scorers and most active shooters in the country.
Plante’s consistency was evident from the outset, recording points in 11 of his first 13 games. Skating alongside his brother Zam and Jayson Shaugabay, the trio formed one of the nation’s most dangerous forward lines throughout the season.
His all-around production included 15 multi-point games, six game-winning goals, eight power-play tallies and two short-handed goals. Duluth closed the year with a one-goal loss to Michigan in the NCAA Albany Regional final.
Plante’s standout season earned him a sweep of major honors, including the Hobey Baker Award, NCHC Player of the Year, NCHC Forward of the Year and First Team All-NCHC recognition.
A second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2024, Plante has announced he will return to Duluth in 2026-27.
